Rio de Janiero & San Salvador - Brazil's Diverse Urban Gems

I had always wanted to spend time in Brazil. In fact, it remains one of my favorite countries. But it's really its own continent. Unimaginably huge, like the Amazon, it takes a day to get from one end to the other by plane. Clearly, it's impossible to see it all, and every year I find itinerary stops for my next visit. In 2014, though, we had to do what we could with out 10 day itinerary.

Rio de Janiero - Five Star to Favela

City of Light is the movie portraying the disparate cultures of Brazil's coastal metropolis. Set against an azure sea, verdant forest and sapphire skies, the culture of Copacabana - with a legacy of Carnival's indulgences - imbues this city with allure that cloaks the danger of one wrong turn into a poverty-stricken, weapon-toting drug lord's slum; the Favela.
